چکیده

The Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) provides a rich set of standards for implementing industrial scale multi-agent infrastructures. Despite its manifold possibilities for achieving coordinated action execution based on interaction protocols, it still lacks direct support of multi-agent planning and scheduling for goal directed action execution. In this paper, we discuss a design strategy to integrate Design-to-Criteria (DTC) scheduling using the Framework for Task Analysis, Environment Modeling and Simulation (TÆMS) for explicit partial modelling of coordination issues into FIPA infrastructures, as represented by the Java Agent DEvelopment Framework (JADE). Following the notion of “coordination as a service”, we exploit the infrastructural facilities of the FIPA multi-agent platform, and re-use FIPA interaction protocols for exchange of partial TÆMS structures, as well as for committing to action execution.

Open Source, Standards and Scaleable Agencies

Numerous agencies and agent systems are being developed or portrayed as vehicles to deliver novel types of e-commerce services to users. However service agents in one agency are probably unable to interoperate or co-operate with agents from other vendors’ agencies. Clearly, standardization in this area would help to create a more ubiquitous market for agent-based services. We analyze the releva...

I-AGENT : A System For Multi-agent Interoperability

This paper presents I-agent system (Intelligible agent system) to improve multi-agent system (MAS) interoperability. It employs ontology management system and its inference ability to assist semantic translation of message content. Also, it uses Java management extensions to manage and integrate heterogeneous multi-agent systems. Besides, the intelligible service description is provided to supp...

Mobile-C: a mobile agent platform for mobile C/C++ agents

This article presents the design, implementation and application of Mobile-C, an IEEE Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) compliant agent platform for mobile C/C++ agents. IEEE FIPA standards are a set of specifications designed to ensure the interoperation between agents in a heterogeneous network. Mobile-C conforms to the FIPA standards both at agent and platform level. Mobile-C...

Supporting FIPA Interoperability for Legacy Multi-agent Systems

A system that conforms to FIPA specifications (standards) is a FIPAcompliant system, and can interoperate with any other heterogeneous systems which are FIPA-compliant also. The conversion of a Multi-Agent System (MAS) into a FIPA-compliant system (i.e. one that adheres to FIPA standards), is important to support interoperability across different MAS. A different approach to conforming a MAS to...

Communication and migration of an embeddable mobile agent platform supporting runtime code mobility

In this paper we present the design and the implementation of Mobile-C, an IEEE Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) compliant agent platform for mobile C/C++ agents. Such compliance ensures the interoperability between a Mobile-C agent and other agents from heterogeneous FIPA compliant mobile agent platforms. Also, the Mobile-C library was designed to support synchronization in or...
